Sam Thompson

Professional DJ and Ambassador for Survivors Manchester

Biography

Sam is a DJ based in the UK. In 2016 he was raped and has spent the time since his ordeal aiding the recovery of other survivors, in particular young straight males. Using his own experience he wanted to regain the power and control taken from him by encouraging other male survivors to break their silence, challenge the perception of masculinity and dismiss the myths surrounding rape.

In July 2017 Sam completed a 48 hour non stop DJ marathon to raise awareness of male rape and funds for Survivors Manchester, the charity that supported him through the aftermath of his assault. More recently Sam became Ambassador for Survivors Manchester and has started to blog about his experiences, as well as his beliefs as to why it is still so difficult for men to begin to talk about such a taboo subject.
